    WINCHESTER, Va.—Almost a year after its grand opening, the Winchester-Frederick County Visitor Center and Civil War Orientation Center received top honors at the 2009 Virginia Tourism Summit, held last month at Wintergreen Resort.   • Kids & Cops Camp Car Wash and Bake Sale (507)
    The Winchester Police Department is looking forward to its annual Kids and Cops Program next week. Kids and Cops is a week long camp designed to provide 84 local children ages 9-12 with the opportunity to learn about law enforcement, form friendships with police officers, and have a positive experience.

    In addition to the annual kickball tournament, the children participate in law enforcement demonstrations and competitions. The campers also participate in a community service project. This year the group will be raising money throughout the week for the Timbrook Children’s Outreach Fund with a car wash and bake sale:
