Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park preserves and interprets key historical sites and the rich cultural heritage of the Shenandoah Valley. At present there are no National Park Service operated visitor facilities. Instead, almost all park lands and buildings are owned and administered by the park's partners: local landowners, county governments, and nonprofit organizations.

Belle Grove Plantation WELCOME TO BELLE GROVE PLANTATION in the Shenandoah Valley near Middletown, Virginia. Belle Grove is an 18th-century grain and livestock farm, which, in its prime (circa 1815), encompassed about 7500 acres of land. The unique limestone house was completed in 1797 for Major Isaac Hite and his wife Nelly, sister of future President James Madison. The house has remained virtually unchanged through the years, offering visitors an experience of the life and times of the people who lived there in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. During the Civil War, Belle Grove was at the center of the decisive Battle of Cedar Creek. Today, the plantation includes the main house and gardens, original outbuildings, a classic 1918 barn, an overseer's house, the slave cemetery, a heritage apple orchard, fields and meadows, and scenic mountain views.

The Kernstown Battlefield Association is dedicated to the preservation of the Pritchard-Grim farm in Winchester and Frederick County, Virginia. This important historic site contains the core areas of the First and Second Battles of Kernstown. This National Historic Landmark has been purchased by the members of the KBA and public grants from local, state and federal governments. Although the 315-acre Pritchard-Grim farm is now protected by a permanent preservation easement, much work still needs to be done to maintain and interpret this important piece of our nation's history.

Mount Herbron Cemetery is a unique community institution. It is a complex of four adjoining burying grounds embraced within a common enclosure. The one and one-fourth acre section in its northwest corner (at Woodstock and East Lanes) is the cemetery that surrounded the old Reformed Church. It contains marked graves dating from 1769. Inasmuch as the church (of which no trace remains) is believed to have been erected about ten years earlier, we may conjecture that this spot has been a burying place for more than two centuries.
